I haven't posted anything here for a long time. I think I was out not following my own advice. Most people, like myself, are terrible at that. I'm sure you've noticed it before, maybe with yourself. You give someone great advice on how to get through school, or handle relationships....but you're bad at both. Or you don't do ANYTHING you tell anyone else to do.
Then you sit back--like I recently did--and think, "maybe I should take my own damn advice."
I stopped taking my own advice, and my life got crazy. I didn't know up from down and right from left, I got so discombobulated I didn't know who I was anymore. I had to step back and think, "Life is too serious to take seriously."
The above thought is a quote from someone, I'm certain. Just so you know, look it up, it wasn't me. haha Honesty is the best policy.
So now I'm back! And looking to start making sure I do take my own advice. And focus on me, enjoy my life, and share with everyone that enjoying your life is so damn...well...enjoyable!
Cheers!

Eye of the Storm
Sometimes when we're in the middle of a horrible situation we wrap ourselves up in it. Usually it's a he said she said situation and they never end well. So the thing to do, is to just realize that they never end well and take yourself out of the situation, and look at it as an outsider.
You have to realize that everytime you get caught up in these situations theres no real reason to get upset over it. In the grand scheme of your life, it shouldn't have an impact. And if it is, then it needs to end. You're wasting valuable time that you could be out living on something that only makes you unhappy.
Society today is very politically correct. Which is alright, for the most part. Here's where it messes things up; politically correct assumptions don't factor in human emotion and the simple basis of communication. We're all people, people mess up, and if it's not politically correct to put yourself out there and just be yourself, then it doesn't apply. The way you feel shouldn't be muted just because you're afraid you'll hurt someone's feelings.
How often do your feelings get hurt? You got over it didn't you?
For the most part yes.
You will hurt peoples feelings. You will get hurt. Apologies when genuine are magical. I swear upon all that is holy, that the song "Don't Worry be Happy" is a true life philosophy.
Granted memory is in play and you won't forget that you got hurt or why but that's okay. It happens, people are too different to forever get along, and you know what? That's okay. It's when wrath and vindictive feelings get in the way. Let it go, once again life is too short to dwell. When you plot revenge, or you constantly worry, you're wasting time you could be spending doing something you enjoy. Take a vacation from life even if it's only your lunchbreak! Make a concious decision to let it go, the human mind when used right is a powerful tool.
Besides, when you smile, they wonder. :)
Once again sorry for misspellings the keyboard is sticky.

Keep Your Feet on the Ground When your Head's in the Clouds...
The title says it all; Keep yourself grounded.
Sometimes it's hard to stay grounded when you're overwhelmed by work, school, or anything even a new environment.
The key is to mix it up.
If you're reluctant to have human contact you should look at it like this:
Everyone needs human contatct, it's a part of being a human being. America is the most hands off country out there. So you should shake hands, hug, or even just do a shoulder pat sometimes. I know that's weird, but the thing is, you really do need it, it keeps you from becoming self-absorbed in your own problems. Believe it or not touching reminds you that other people are real and not just characters in the play called life. Also, much like sunlight, it curbs depression. Don't ask me, ask your doctor, I'm sure he/she will explain it in a way that's easier to understand.
If you're sensitive to crowds of people sometimes it really helps to go to the mall, where even though there's hundreds of people you're really not interacting with them. It gets you used to it, and really calms you down. Go to the mall and buy something stupid or just get some food at the food court. And remember, smile, your life isn't as bad as you think, trust me, if you talk to people and find out their stories you'd be surprised at how many of them have similar experiences.
And stop worrying so much, but we'll touch on that in a separate post.
If you have children, sometimes it helps to just sit there and play with them, if they're older, just hang out! Make dinner together, talk for a couple hours. Not only will you realize that you created this beautiful person, and are capable of helping them survive and grow into a better person than yourself, it really does help them too. And the words "I love you" are never overused when it comes to family. To love and be loved will keep you grounded and safe. :)
